Strategic Objectives:
The primary function of the Corporate Services business unit is to provide back-office support to the GSSC, ensuring its ability to deliver world-class support services to Gauteng.
The Corporate Services business unit comprises five sub-units, including:
- Internal Human Resource and Auxiliary Services;
- Legal and Regulatory Services;
- Risk Management;
The scope of services provided by each unit is detailed as follows:
Internal Human Resource and Auxiliary Services:
- The provision of strategic support, advice and interventions to enhance the development and retention of employees and to improve overall organisational effectiveness;
- The optimisation of organisational capacity through ongoing human resource planning in support of enhanced service delivery;
- The optimal staffing of all the business units of the GSSC to ensure the achievement of their individual business objectives;
- The alignment of recruitment practices to the objectives of the organisation's Employment Equity Policy, plans and related Provincial and/or national policies and regulatory frameworks;
- The fulfilment of the GSSC's commitment to the development of its staff through the establishment of various training programmes; and
- The provision of maintenance services to ensure that all GSSC buildings remain fully operational.
Legal and Regulatory Services:
- The provision of professional legal services and support to the GSSC;
- The monitoring and confirmation of legal and regulatory compliance within the GSSC; and
- Ensuring that the GSSC complies with occupational health and safety standards.
Risk Management:
- The facilitation of integrated risk management principles in the strategic planning process and performance management;
- The development of a risk profile for the GSSC, to which all stakeholders subscribe;
- The implementation of adequate plans and procedures in the event of the materialisation of any risk;
- The entrenchment in the minds of all staff of a risk culture, ensuring that risk management becomes a formal part of the day-to-day activities of employees;
- The implementation and regular update, testing and communication of business continuity plans and disaster recovery plans; and
- The establishment of an operational and interactive Business Continuity Plan Steering Committee to ensure that all strategic departmental decisions are aligned to the business continuity plan.
